WHATS ON IN NEWARK

Don’t miss the up comping events in Newark

29 October 2024 to January 2025 - A Polish Heart Beats Here / Tu Bije Polskie Serce National Civil War Centre Exhibition. Open to the public from Tuesday. Celebrate the rich and diverse Polish culture within Newark and Sherwood at the National Civil War Centre’s new exhibition, ‘A Polish Heart Beats Here’. Co-produced with the local Polish community, this vibrant exhibition explores three main themes: remembrance, everyday life, and culture and traditions. You can discover Newark’s historical ties to Poland, from the Polish Armed Forces’ presence in local airfields to the twin town of Sandomierz. The exhibition is a heartfelt collaboration, reflecting the spirit and traditions of the Polish people in Newark. ‘A Polish Heart Beats Here’ exhibition is part of Open Doors, a three-year programme of events organised by Newark and Sherwood District Council and funded by Arts Council England. Its aim is to increase creative opportunities for young people and under-served groups and become a focal point for culture across Newark and Sherwood.
