Cllr Debbie Moore - Balderton Parish (Balderton South)
I have been a resident of Newark since June 2019 and have loved living in the area ever since. Having been involved in various local causes over this time and being an avid dog walker, I have met many like-minded people from Balderton who have the same passion as I do for the local history, beauty and natural surroundings.
This led to a desire to support the community and I was honoured to be elected to Balderton Parish Council in 2023. I intend to continue representing the residents by putting Balderton and the needs of the community.
ONE YEAR ON …
My first year as Parish Councillor in Balderton has been challenging - getting to grips with how the Parish Council works took some time. However, I now feel that I have a good understanding of what a Parish Council is responsible for and what influence they can have on behalf of the community.
A highlight has been working together with the rest of the new Parish Council to secure the future of Balderton Lake, it was a very rewarding experience. I am working hard on ongoing matters, actively representing the Parish Council on Planning Applications and am currently educating myself regarding recent changes by NSDC about Planning Protocols and Delegation. I've enjoyed dealing with constituent's requests & I have had many related to the accessibility of public walkways or the clearing of footpaths. I have successfully reported and confirmed action has been taken on several lanes and footpaths since becoming a Councillor. I am passionate about the village and the natural biodiversity it contains, so I am busy learning as much as I can regarding the new laws relating to Biodiversity Net Gain in our area.
